Dear Mr. Jennings,

First of all, let me introduce myself: My name is Jaime, I'm Portuguese and a fierce supporter/associate of Sport Lisboa e Benfica. I'm one in an estimated number of 14 million supporters around the world and about 230 thousand (and growing) associates, which is a world record. I'm also a member of an online community of about 300 Benfica-related blogs, fed by hundreds of people with news, opinions, articles, comments, etc., and with an audience of many thousands. I'm sure that you are aware of the greatness of my Club, one of the greatest in all football history.

Over the past few days, your name has become a reference in anti-corruption among this online community, and I'm sure this is not the first e-mail you receive from a Benfica supporter. In fact, I'm positive that when you read "Benfica" in the beginning of the mail you immediately knew what was coming.

Yes, I want to alert you to the CORRUPT SYSTEM that is still installed in Portuguese football. A system with well-identified faces and names, being Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, president of F.C. Porto, the most well known. Can you imagine that he was convicted for passive-corruption (I really don't know the English legal term) by the governing organs overseeing football justice and sentenced to 2 years without being able to officially represent the club for which he is president, having the club lost 6 points in an ended championship which they won?!?!?!?
By the way... he was found not guilty in civil justice, because the use of the tappings was considered illegal. One has to really listen to them, but I can assure you that the content was totally revealing (I'll try to send you a link with subtitles).
This is just a tip of an iceberg that involves football, justice and politics. Unfortunately, we believe that this CORRUPT SYSTEM is alive and kicking, and that they've only gone more underground and found different ways of exercising their influences and corrupt schemes.
There are lots of information in the web, and I'll be more than happy to help you in some research you might wanna do.

In the meanwhile, here's a link which can give you an overview of what you can expect to find...

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need more information, for I'll be more than glad to help you.

Thank you very much for your time.

Best regards,

Jaime

  4. Caro Jaime,

  5. Caro Lampião,

    No problem...

  7. Olá de novo. Acho bastante pertinente o comentário do Águia Preocupada.
